Sinn was founded in 1961 by flying instructor Helmut Sinn, and so their range includes many pilot’s replica watches. This model is in the classic pilot’s format, with a few extras: the pilot’s bezel, which can be used for countdowns for up to an hour using the minute hand, and the day and date window. The replica watch is relatively small at 41 mm diameter, with 11.5 mm thickness, so it’s ideal for everyday use. The hour markings, numbers, all three hands and the triangle on the bezel are coated in luminescent colour. The case is in polished stainless steel, water-resistant to 200 metres. Below, the night-time effect:
The Sinn 104 St Sa A has a Sellita SW 220-1 movement (based on the ETA 2824-2), which runs at 28,800 vph (4 Hertz) and has a power reserve of 38 hours. It has the stop-second function for precise time-setting. The movement is 25.6 mm in diameter, and so the sapphire caseback window is necessarily smaller than the diameter of the entire replica watch. The screw-down crown is unscrewed to the first position for winding, the second position for day and date setting (using different directions of rotation), and the third position for setting the time.
